Orthotic Assessments
A quality orthotic assessment is paramount to ensure a comfortable and functional orthotic. Manchester orthotics appreciate the importance of taking time to ensure a thorough assessment. All assessments are carried out by one of our experienced HCPC and BAPO registered orthotists.
The assessment will start by asking a range of question to gain a clear picture of your requirements. These questions will most likely include medical history, lifestyle, previous orthotic use, current activity level and future goals.
Where appropriate the orthotist will then carry out a visual and physical assessment. The visual assessment may include analysing your walking, running or checking skin condition, pelvic symmetry and even shoe wear. The physical assessment may involve testing range of motion, muscle power and reflexes.
At this point, the orthotist will discuss all available orthotic options and decide on the most suitable orthotic for you. To ensure the orthotic is the correct size a series of specific measurements, a foam impression, a plaster cast or a scan may be taken. The orthotic will then be manufactured and a fitting appointment rearrange for a time that suits you.
Here at Manchester Orthotics, we feel that it is important to have a multidisciplinary approach to an individual's healthcare wherever possible. Manchester Orthotics are always happy to have joint assessments or liaise with other healthcare professions.
